Province Issues High Wind Effect and Risk of Ice Pileup Warning for South Shores of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre advises high winds developing this afternoon and lasting until tomorrow afternoon may result in high wind effects and the risk of ice pileup along the south basin of Lake Manitoba and shorelines near Gimli on the west and Victoria Beach on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.
Northwest wind gusts up to 75 km/h and wave action could raise water levels by as much as five feet or more.
The gusting wind could create ice pileups as lakes are fully or partially ice covered. Property owners are advised to take precautions.
