Bold cartoons by Nina E. Allender, for covers of The Suffragist, the weekly newspaper of the Congressional Union (later the National Woman’s Party), portrayed attractive, active young women advocating for women’s right to vote, thus helping to overturn longstanding negative imagery of suffragists.
