As part of the U.S. government’s commitment to music diplomacy, the arts, and public health, and in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the U.S. Department of State announces the arrival of the two inaugural Fulbright / Kennedy Center Fellows, Adriana Jaramillo from Colombia and Eder Zanetti from Brazil.
The Fulbright / Kennedy Center Fellowship for Performing Arts and Science, a component of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, is designed to provide opportunities for international Fulbrighters to collaborate with Kennedy Center artists, staff, and educators.  The Kennedy Center Programming Department is serving as host to both scholars.  The fellowship supports research and innovative multidisciplinary projects that address the connection between the performing arts, the environment, health, and wellbeing from the perspective of both artists and scientists.  
Adriana Jaramillo is a clinical psychologist and education specialist”.  “She has promoted the arts in education as a way to mediate divided societies through her previous work and publications.  Her Fulbright / Kennedy Center research will help her develop guidance for Colombia’s Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra on music programs for school-age children.
Eder Zanetti is a forest scientist, environmental journalist, and radio and podcast host in Brazil”. ” At the Kennedy Center, he will investigate ways to introduce education, music, dance, comedy, theater, cinema, and hip-hop to engage broader public audiences in learning about environmental sustainability.
The Fulbright / Kennedy Center Fellowship was launched in support of the U.S. Department of State’s Global Music Diplomacy Initiative [ https://www.state.gov/u-s-secretary-of-state-antony-j-blinken-launches-global-music-diplomacy-initiative-music-icon-and-former-u-s-jazz-ambassador-music-director-quincy-jones-receives-inaugural-peace-through-music-awar/ ] and coincides with the Kennedy Center’s expanded focus on both Arts and Wellbeing [ https://www.kennedy-center.org/news-room/press-release-landing-page/nourish-24-25-release/ ], as well as Arts and the Environment, including the upcoming international festival entitled Earth to Space.  It also reinforces the Fulbright Program [ https://www.fulbrightprogram.org/ ]’s goal to provide scholars from all over the world with opportunities to learn from the premiere institutions of the United States.
