ITA Airways Celebrates Milano Cortina 2026 with SKYWAYThe Official Airline Sponsor inaugurates its showcasing in Piazza San Carlo
Milan, 7 February 2026 – The magic of travel meets the thrill of sport: ITA Airways, as the Official Airline Sponsor of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, today inaugurated its SKYWAY showcasing, which will be on display in Piazza San Carlo in Milan until 15 March 2026.
“The presence of our Company alongside the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games reaffirms our deep bond with Italy, Italian sport, and its core values – said ITA Airways Chairman Sandro Pappalardo – On this special occasion, we proudly underline our role as Italy’s national reference carrier and as ambassadors of Made in Italy around the world, supporting Italian talent and promoting the values of sustainability and national pride”.
“This partnership underscores Company’s will to further internationally expand as a distinctive, global brand and a symbol of Italian identity – said Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of ITA Airways – SKYWAY concretely expresses ITA Airways’ aim and our vision for the future: combining the thrill of flight with that of major international events, in the sign of innovation and digitalization, cornerstones of our Company”.
“There is a profound, almost indescribable emotion in experiencing the first day of the Olympic Games here, in Italy. This is a special day that will go down in history, and we are happy to be able to spend it together, inaugurating a space that proudly symbolizes all Italian strength – said Nevio Devidè, Chief Revenue Officer of Milano Cortina 2026 – Seeing a Milan opening its doors to the world is a sign of an openness that goes beyond borders: the perfect metaphor for our union between ITA Airways and Milano Cortina 2026. They represent the most beautiful face of our country, that of welcome. Together, we don’t just transport people; we welcome, embrace, and connect the entire world under the sky of our Games.”
With SKYWAY, ITA Airways aims both to increase brand visibility on a prestigious international stage and to engage the public through experiential activities.
The showcasing consists of two pavilions characterised by the iconic blue colour of the airline, coherently expressing ITA Airways’ identity and its connection with Milano Cortina 2026. The pavilions feature white surfaces and natural wood inserts inspired by mountain forms, creating an architecture of strong visual impact while harmoniously combining national identity, sporting spirit, and environmental awareness. The second pavilion recreates an aircraft fuselage, with windows overlooking a mountain landscape that enhances the illusion of flight and strengthens the link with the Alpine environment.
ITA Airways has developed numerous initiatives to celebrate the Games, starting with a special livery applied to an Airbus A320. Thanks to illustrations by Emiliano Ponzi, the aircraft becomes a narrative canvas celebrating the values of sport, inclusivity, and shared emotion, instantly evoking the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
To mark the occasion, ITA Airways has also introduced special onboard menus for its medium-haul Business Class. At the Hangar Lounge at Rome Fiumicino and the Runway Lounge at Milan Linate, two dedicated initiatives will be available throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games: a dedicated menu and celebratory videos displayed on lounge screens.
Finally, through a multichannel advertising campaign airing from 6 to 23 February (on TV, streaming TV, web, social media, and radio), ITA Airways will highlight the parallel between the dedication of Olympic athletes and the emotions experienced by travellers.
