WHA Highlights
Day 7 of the 78th World Health Assembly
The Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly [https://apps.who.int/gb/e/e_wha78.html] (WHA78) continues at the Palais des Nations in Geneva today, in Committee A and Committee B. Working hours of the Health Assembly are 09.00 to 12.00 and 14.30 to 17.30 CEST.

Highlights of the day:
· Reports and decisions on health and care workforce (Committee A)
· Consideration of the draft global traditional medicine strategy 2025-2034 (Committee A)
· Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, including a decision on World Prematurity Day (Committee A)
· Decision on raising the flag of the State of Palestine at WHO (Committee B)
· Adoption of an updated road map for an enhanced global response to the adverse health impacts of air pollution (Committee B)
· Decisions on the effects of nuclear war on public health and on global support for a lead-free future
· Action on Draft Global Action Plan on Climate Change and Health (Committee B)
Committee A
The Committee will discuss the issue of substandard and falsified medical products ( EB156(25) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_(25)-en.pdf]) and the standardization of medical devices nomenclature ( A78/4 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_4-en.pdf]) (items 13.5 and 13.6).
On health and care workforce (item 13.7), it will consider reports by the Director-General on the implementation of the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel ( EB156/14 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_14-en.pdf] and EB156(26) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_(26)-en.pdf]) and the implementation of the Global strategy on human resources for health: workforce 2030 ( EB156/15 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_15-en.pdf]), including the decision on accelerating action on the global health and care workforce by 2030 ( EB156(27) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_(27)-en.pdf]).
After the consideration of the draft global traditional medicine strategy (2025–2034) ( EB156/16 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_16-en.pdf] and EB156(28) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_(28)-en.pdf]) (item 13.7), the Committee will review progress on the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health ( EB156/17 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_17-en.pdf]) and take action on decisions on World Prematurity Day ( EB156(29) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_(29)-en.pdf]) and on regulating the digital marketing of breast-milk substitutes ( EB156(30) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB156/B156_(30)-en.pdf]) (item 13.9).
Finally, the Committee will hear the reports by the Director-General on Health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ( A78/7 Rev.1 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_7Rev1-en.pdf]) and on antimicrobial resistance ( A78/8 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_8-en.pdf]).
Committee B
The Committee will address the agenda items 27 and 28, hearing reports by the Director-General on agreements with intergovernmental organizations ( A78/32 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_32-en.pdf]) and on collaboration within the United Nations system ( A78/33 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_33-en.pdf]), and discussing the notification submitted by Argentina to the Secretary-General of the United Nations ( A78/33 Add.1 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_33Add1-en.pdf]) and raising the flag of the State of Palestine (non-Member Observer State) at the World Health Organization ( A78/B/CONF./2 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA78/A78_BCONF2-en.pdf]).
