Scientist-in-Residence
Applications close June 14
Created in cooperation with the New York City Department of Education in 2012, the Scientist-in-Residence (SiR) program matches scientists with NYC public school teachers to bring scientific inquiry to life in the classroom. By combining their content and pedagogical expertise, each scientist-teacher pair will develop and implement a year-long project that prepares students to engage in authentic research and spark their interest in STEM learning.

After School Mentoring Program
Applications close August 6
Remember the pure curiosity of asking questions and finding new answers? Give that feeling to middle school students around New York City! In partnership with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, the Academy recruits STEM professionals to act as mentors in the Afterschool STEM Mentoring Program (ASMP). ASMP mentors are placed at one of our many afterschool sites around New York City. Since our launch in 2010, we have placed over 1,000 scientists into afterschool programs all over the NYC area and inspired 15,000+ students!
