The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) plays a unique role in assisting communities when catastrophe strikes. As the only federal agency focused solely on economic development, supporting a community facing a significant, potentially devastating, economic event following a natural disaster is a critical role EDA is proud to support.

*Tech Hubs Share Bold Visions to Transform Regions*
In February 2024, the 31 Tech Hub Designees [ https://www.eda.gov/funding/programs/regional-technology-and-innovation-hubs/2023?utm_medium=email&utm_program=Impact&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_subject=impact_april_2024&utm_year=2024 ] submitted their Phase 2 applications, sharing bold visions for transforming their regions into globally competitive, critical technology hubs. EDA updated its website to include broad details about each of the 31 Designees’ proposals. While each Hub’s programs reflect their respective technology and industry focus, they are unified by the goals of the Tech Hubs program: making and delivering innovative products and services; developing our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow; and strengthening America’s economic competitiveness and national security. *Upcoming Event: Powering U.S. prosperity and competitiveness through place-based investment*
After decades of growing economic divergence, the American Rescue Plan Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act represent a federal recommitment to investing directly in local communities to power national prosperity, competitiveness, and resilience. On May 21, the Brookings Institution and Duke University will host an event focused on this renewed place-based economic agenda, featuring high-level Biden administration officials, state and local leaders, and national experts.
