Plenary session Strasbourg
Russian violations of EU airspace*. On Wednesday/, MEPs will debate recent Russian incursions into EU airspace and critical infrastructure, with representatives of the Danish Council Presidency and the European Commission. A resolution will be voted on by MEPs on Thursday/.
Peace efforts for Gaza.* Following the Gaza peace proposal presented by US President Trump on 29 September, MEPs, and Council and Commission representatives will discuss the EU’s role in supporting peace efforts for Gaza and a two-state solution on Tuesday/.
Motions of censure*. On Monday/, plenary will hold a joint debate on two motions of censure against the European Commission, followed by two separate votes on Thursday/. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the debate.
Simpler EU agriculture rules*. On Tuesday/, MEPs will debate simplified EU agricultural rules and ways to strengthen the position of farmers in the food supply chain. The votes will take place on Wednesday/.
Digital sovereignty*. On Wednesday/, MEPs will debate with Council and Commission representatives on promoting and protecting the EU’s digital rules alongside ways to reduce technological dependency on non-EU actors.
Completing the single market*. One year after Mario Draghi published his report [5] on EU competitiveness, MEPs will discuss with Council and Commission representatives on Tuesday /how to complete a fully integrated single market and build it up for more growth and prosperity.
Prime Minister of Greenland*. On Wednesday at noon/, Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Fredrik Nielsen will address MEPs in a formal sitting.
This is Europe/Luxembourg Prime Minister*. On Tuesday/, MEPs will discuss with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden about the EU as a project, its challenges and future.
Committees/
ECB President Christine Lagarde*. On Monday/, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee will hold its third monetary dialogue of the year with the President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde. They will discuss the quarterly assessment of the ECB’s monetary policy, currency dominance and the implications of a stronger international euro, not least in the context of shifting US policy.
President’s diary*. On Tuesday, EP President Roberta Metsola will have a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, followed by a press point, before he addresses MEPs in plenary. On Friday, she will be in Latvia, where she will address the Riga Conference and meet with the Prime Minister of Latvia, Evika Siliņa.
Last-minute briefing*. On Monday /at 16:30, Parliament will hold a press briefing on the plenary session, which starts at 17:00. Political group briefings will take place on Tuesday /morning.
