Press invitation presentation of the 2022 Defence White Paper
25 mei 2022 – 14:09
At 11:00 on Wednesday morning 1 June, Kajsa Ollongren, Netherlands Minister of Defence, Christophe van der Maat, State Secretary for Defence, and General Onno Eichelsheim, Chief of Defence, will present the 2022 Defence White Paper.
This invitation offers a representative from your editorial staff the possibility of attending the presentation.
The 2022 Defence White Paper sets out the Defence organisation’s plans to reinforce its foundation and build future-proof armed forces during the current government’s term of office. The government will invest an additional EUR 5 billion in the Defence organisation on a structural basis. This means a 40% increase in the defence budget relative to the 2022 budget and the largest investment since the end of the Cold War. Defence will meet the NATO standard of 2% of GDP in 2024 and 2025. The intention is to jointly invest with international partners, the business community and knowledge institutes to the greatest extent possible, with a view to innovation and sustainability.
After the presentation, there will be a brief question and answer session with the Minister, the State Secretary and the Chief of Defence.
