Week in brief 16-22 May 2022
Foreign ministers discuss response to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine
The session will furthermore provide an opportunity for ministers to take decisions on the work of the Organisation in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybercrime, freedom of expression, combatting hate speech, Council of Europe monitoring, including improving the protection of social rights, human rights and the environment, participation of civil society organisations and national human rights institutions, restorative justice, culture and cultural heritage, rights of the child, protecting the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls as well as inter-religious dialogue.
A press conference is scheduled at 2.30 p.m. with the Foreign Ministers of Italy and Ireland and the Council of Europe Secretary General.

17 May, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 10 judgments concerning Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Lithuania, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia and Turkey.
18-20 May, Turkey – PACE co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Turkey, John Howell and Boriss Cilevics, will carry out a fact-finding visit to Istanbul and Ankara, following the conviction of Osman Kavala to an aggravated life sentence.
19 May, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 34 judgments and/or decisions concerning Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Republic of Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Sweden and Turkey.
19 and 21 May, Cannes – The European Audiovisual Observatory will organise two new conferences announced and a stand on the Marché du Film.
