(AGENPARL) - Roma, 25 Novembre 2024 - (AGENPARL) – lun 25 novembre 2024 Dear Friend,
With the reelection of President Donald Trump, the stakes for our values—freedom, justice, and accountability—have never been higher.
Although we recognize that a second Trump term is a significant setback for democracy, not just for the left and progressives, we choose to view this as an opportunity for us to collaborate, regroup, and rebuild our movement.
This holiday season, as we reflect on the work we have done this year to build and strengthen the foundations for a new values-based foreign policy and the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead, we are grateful for your support. CIP is proud that we do not accept funding from any government or corporation.
And we need your help now more than ever as we work to advance a proactive agenda amid new and growing threats.
Just last week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass an alarming new bill that is widely feared to be used as a way to harass nonprofits working to defend human rights, promote peace, and provide essential services to vulnerable populations. H.R. 9495, the misleadingly named Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, would grant the Secretary of the Treasury unprecedented power to revoke the tax-exempt status of any nonprofit organization it deems a “terrorist-supporting organization” without due process.
Your gift today will help us continue to stand up for justice and accountability at home and abroad, push back against policies that threaten civil society, and ensure that the voices of the vulnerable are heard.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the work that lies ahead. Together, we can create a future rooted in peace, fairness, and respect for human dignity.
With gratitude,
Nancy Okail
