Date of Inquest into the Death of Terry Baker Announced

Dr. Karen Schiff, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, has announced the date for the inquest into the death of Terry Baker.
Ms. Baker, 30, died in hospital on July 6, 2016, after being transferred from the Grand Valley Institution for Women. An inquest into her death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Ms. Baker’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths from occurring in similar circumstances.
The inquest is expected to last two weeks and hear from approximately 12 witnesses.
The inquest will start at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Dr. David Eden will be the presiding officer. Sidney McLean and Kristin Smith will be inquest counsel.
