Teatro cards; members of FAI, Italia Nostra, Touring Club, ACI
and Icom; families with children. The concessionary price is
also available for those who: dine at a restaurant in Ancona;
have stayed at least one night in accommodation within the
Marche region; visit the exhibition with a guide who is a
resident of the Ancona.

HOW TO REACH THE MOLE VANVITELLIANA
By Car and Coach
From the A14 motorway, take the Ancona Nord exit:
follow the SS76 towards Ancona, then continue on the
SS16 (signposted for Ancona city centre/port). Follow
the signs to the Port, Cruise Terminal Embarkation, Mole
Vanvitelliana. From the A14 motorway, take the Ancona
Sud exit: follow the SS16 and then the North-South Axis
towards the Port. Follow the signs to the Port, Cruise
Terminal Embarkation, Mole Vanvitelliana.
By Train
The Mole Vanvitelliana is approximately a 15-minute
walk (1 km) from Ancona railway station, heading
towards the city centre. Once you reach the Quartiere
degli Archi area, the Mole Vanvitelliana complex will be
on your left in the port area. Alternatively, you can take
an urban bus from the station heading towards the city
centre and get off near the Mole Vanvitelliana.
Aereo
Marche Airport (formerly Ancona Falconara Raffaello
Sanzio). It is around a 30-minute drive from the airport.
Taxi and bus services are available.
By Ferry
Port of Ancona. The Mole Vanvitelliana is approximately
a 15-minute walk (1 km) from the port. The cruise terminal is just a few minutes from the Mole Vanvitelliana.

Ancona Culture – autumn/winter 2025 events: in
autumn, the Mole Vanvitelliana will host the Premio
Marche contemporary art exhibition. The reopening of
the Francesco Podesti Art Gallery (city centre) is also
scheduled. The Teatro delle Muse will present its opera
season, featuring Giuseppe Verdi’s The Troubadour on
10th and 12th October, and Gioachino Rossini’s The
Barber of Seville on 5th and 7th December, alongside a
variety of theatre performances, classical music concerts,
and shows throughout the city.

The exhibition Rinascimento marchigiano: Restored works of art from the earthquake-affected
areas along the paths of faith, curated by Stefano Papetti and Pierluigi Moriconi, focuses on the
enhancement and promotion of the historical

Luigi Vanvitelli’s legacy in the port of Ancona: a true
masterpiece of architecture and engineering on water,
the Mole Vanvitelliana is a lazaretto designed by Luigi
Vanvitelli and built between 1733 and 1743. It stands on
a pentagonal artificial island within the port area; today,
it is connected to the mainland by three bridges and
covers an area of 20,000 m². It is the starting point of
Ancona’s Grand Tout Vanvitelliano (www.anconatourism.it).
Homer Tactile State Museum: a unique, barrier-free
space where everyone can engage with art through
touch, the Homer Tactile State Museum is an international model for accessibility culture and the aesthetic education of blind and partially sighted people. The museum
houses over 200 works and currently on display at the
museum is “L’ombra vede” (The shadow sees), an exhibition by the artist Enzo Cucchi (www.museoomero.it).
Design Collection: located within the Mole Vanvitelliana,
this space is designed in keeping with the philosophy of
the Homer Museum, offering a multisensory experience
where visitors can explore 32 iconic pieces of Italian
design that have either been mentioned or awarded the
prestigious Compasso d’Oro (www.museoomero.it).
Visit to the walkways of the Mole Vanvitelliana: visitors
have the unique opportunity to ascend the external
walkways of the Mole, offering a spectacular view of the city.
The Mole – Literary Café: visitors can also indulge in a coffee
break, lunch or aperitif while immersing themselves in the
adventures of a good book (www.themoleancona.it).
Exhibitions and Events: the Mole Vanvitelliana serves as a
venue for cultural, musical, performing arts events and film
screenings. Its spaces host various exhibitions and are
available for conferences and congresses.
