Justice Minister Kelvin Goertzen Welcomes New Manitoba Public Insurance Board Member
Justice Minister Kelvin Goertzen, minister responsible for Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI), welcomed John Mitchell to MPI’s board of directors today.
“After spending 39 years at Portage Mutual Insurance, including serving as president and CEO, John Mitchell brings a strong background to the MPI board of directors,” said Goertzen. “As CEO, he was instrumental in their successful legacy IT projects, migrating the company to a best-in-class technology platform and his experience will be welcomed to the MPI board as it continues its work overseeing the Crown corporation.”
“I’m pleased John Mitchell has been appointed to MPI’s board of directors,” said Ward Keith, board chair, MPI. “I know he will bring important expertise to the board, given his tremendous experience and as a strong and well-respected leader in Manitoba’s insurance industry.”
Mitchell was born and raised in Portage la Prairie. In 2010, he was appointed to the position of president and CEO of Portage Mutual Insurance. Mitchell has extensive experience in various departments and insurance industry fields including computer programming, corporate marketing, and corporate business strategies.
The change to the board is effective immediately.
