Rome, March 1st, 2024 – ITA Airways, the Italian reference carrier, participates for the second year in the ITB
in Berlin, the largest tourism trade fair in the world.
During the three-day event, taking place from 5th to 7th March, ITA Airways will be exhibiting at the booth No.
107, inside Hall 1.2 in the ENIT (Italian National Tourist Board) area. Here, the Company will welcome guests,
tour operators, travel agencies and tourism companies. The airline will also present its network and new
products to key players in the tourism industry and to the German audience.
Within ITA Airways’ booth, a space will be dedicated to the Company’s loyalty program, Volare. Here,
customers can request information, subscribe, and take a souvenir photo at the customized photo booth.
Volare was born two years ago and has already reached the threshold of 1,8 million members and more than
20 business partners from the hôtellerie, mobility and finance sectors. To date, 8 airline partners for accrual
have joined the program. In addition, the second half of 2023 saw the successful launch of Co-branded cards
with American Express and the opening of the Executive Reserved section, providing top Tier members with
exclusive benefits.
Germany is a strategic market for ITA Airways, which will offer German travelers up to 76 weekly flights
between the two Countries in the upcoming summer season, thanks to the connections between Frankfurt,
Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Düsseldorf airports and the Company’s reference airports Rome-Fiumicino
and Milan-Linate. Flights are also available to reach the entire network of destinations in Italy and the rest of
the world, including South American destinations in Brazil and Argentina. In addition, in the summer 2024, the
airline will fly to additional seasonal destinations operated to the most popular Mediterranean locations,
including Greece, Spain, Croatia and the Italian islands. These can be reached with nonstop flights from Rome
Fiumicino and Milan Linate (Rhodes, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca, Heraklion, Corfu, Lampedusa,
Pantelleria, Split and Kefalonia – the latter two only from Rome Fiumicino).
At the German event, ITA Airways will present to the public its complete offer for the upcoming summer
season, with a total of 57 destinations, including 16 domestic, 26 international and 15 intercontinental. At the
core of the Company’s strategy is the expansion of its entire network, especially its long-haul routes, made
possible thanks to its fleet expansion plan, which will see 28 new aircraft joining during the year.
North America, Africa and the Middle East are the markets where ITA Airways will inaugurate nonstop flights
from its Rome Fiumicino hub in the 2024 summer season. In detail, a new direct flight from Rome Fiumicino
to Chicago will be launched in April as well as direct connections to Toronto and Riyadh in May. In June, it will
be the turn of nonstop flights to Accra and Kuwait City, in July of the one to Dakar and in August to Jeddah.
The number of frequencies on these new destinations will be gradually increased throughout the summer
season. In addition, flights to Accra, Riyadh, Kuwait City, Dakar, and Jeddah will be operated with the new
A321neo, the latest Airbus type joining ITA Airways’ fleet, and a reference for technology, digitalization,
innovation, efficiency, and design representing Made in Italy on the medium haul.
Efficient and quiet, the A321neo boasts more than 20 percent lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per
seat. It is the first narrow body configured with three separate cabins: Business Class (12 seats with direct
access to the corridor and a full lie-flat bed configuration), Premium Economy (12 seats) and Economy (141
seats including 12 dedicated to Comfort Economy). The cabin interiors, entirely designed by Walter de Silva,
perfectly embody typical Italian elegance and style. Each seat is equipped with a state-of-the-art entertainment
system with on demand video and audio features.
The new intercontinental destinations in Summer 2024 add to the direct long-haul flights already operated to
New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos
Aires, Tokyo and New Delhi.
ITA Airways started its operations on October 15th, 2021, with a fleet of 52 aircraft. At the heart of the airline’s
strategy is the ambition to be an ambassador of Made in Italy by offering customized services ensuring a
completely Italian in-flight experience at every stage of the journey. This goal is achieved thanks to important
partnerships with renowned Italian brands, such as Brunello Cucinelli, who designed the uniforms of the crew
and ground staff, Walter De Silva, who created the interiors of ITA Airways’ new aircraft, and Italian starred
chefs, who are signing the on-board gastronomic offer. The Company is also committed to sustainability,
through continuous fleet renewal with technologically advanced and efficient aircraft. ITA Airways’ fleet
currently includes 83 Airbus, with 40 of the latest generation.
In terms of commercial performance, ITA Airways achieved important results in 2023, its second year of
operations: 15 million passengers were carried, almost 50% more than in 2022, with an average load factor
of 79%, an improvement of 5 p.p. over the previous year, which recorded the best performance on the
intercontinental sector with 82%. Expectations are also very encouraging for 2024, with substantial growth
compared to 2023 thanks to the expansion of the network, recording an increase of 43% in the long haul
versus 2023.
All new ITA Airways flights are already available and can be purchased through the Company’s official website
ita-airways.com, the Customer Center, travel agencies and airport counters.
