27 November 2025, Rome – ICCROM is proud to welcome the Republic of San Marino as its 139th Member State. This milestone extends ICCROM’s global reach and reinforces its mandate to advance the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage worldwide. San Marino’s membership brings renewed momentum to ICCROM’s efforts to support Member States in protecting heritage in all its forms and ensuring its lasting value for future generations.

A formal ceremony marking this important step was held at the Embassy of San Marino in Rome, where a Letter of Intent was signed by ICCROM’s Director General, Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral and H.E. Ambassador Daniela Rotondaro, at the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, International Economic Cooperation and Digital Transition, Luca Beccari. The Letter of Intent reflects the shared commitment to foster strategic cooperation that strengthens cultural heritage conservation and protection, leveraging on the catalytic effect of capacity-building and exchange of knowledge at expert, institutional and policy-maker levels.
