Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik of the Republic of Korea (ROK). The Secretary expressed sadness for the tragic loss of life regarding the Jeju Airlines incident, and reiterated that the U.S. stands ready to support the ROK during this difficult time. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States’ confidence in the enduring strength of the U.S.-ROK Alliance and ironclad commitment to the defense of the ROK. The Secretary and Speaker discussed the importance of continued cooperation, particularly in the context of regional and global security, economic partnership, and trilateral cooperation with Japan.
