“NORA, BACK TO THE FUTURE OF ENERGY”, THE NEW
SERIES OF TERNA’S PODCAST FOR GENERATION Z
Seven episodes of the generational audio drama on the challenges of energy and
digital transition, now also featuring an animated, interactive format on TikTok
Rome, 23 April 2024 – Terna, the Italian national transmission grid operator, has released
the second series of its fiction podcast “Nora, Back to the Future of Energy”, aimed at
Generation Z.
The first series of the audio drama was released in 2022 to mark the launch of Tyrrhenian
Lab, Terna’s advanced training and innovation centre established in partnership with the
universities of Cagliari, Salerno and Palermo. These cities will host the landing sites of the
Tyrrhenian Link, a submarine power line that will connect Campania, Sicily and Sardinia.
The noir-fiction podcast weaves together a narrative incorporating the twin challenges of
the energy and digital transition, to introduce enthusiastic young people, students and
young professionals involved in STEM subjects to the latest developments in the energy
transition.
Energy, innovation and sustainability lie at the centre of seven new episodes exploring the
key themes of the current transformation: from renewable energy to new frontiers of
technological innovation, e-mobility to energy efficiency, responsible use of natural
resources to environmental awareness, and the gender gap to climate change.
In this new series, Nora—a young consultant with an infallible talent for profiling, enabling
her to precisely profile people and predict their reactions—has begun a new life.
Passionate about innovation and new digital technologies, she has launched a start-up
dedicated to women dreaming of a career in STEM fields. However, an unexpected call
prompts her to face new challenges, and old problems, in a small provincial town.
Following her innate vocation for change and passion for the environment, Nora returns to
her roots as a profiler, helping the community to overcome its prejudices and opening its
eyes to the many opportunities offered by the energy transition.
These ideas are familiar to the protagonists of Tyrrhenian Lab, the advanced training and
skills centre focused on the future of the electricity system, based in the cities hosting
landing sites of Tyrrhenian Link. This submarine power line will see 3.7 billion euros of
investment in a connection stretching for a total of 970 km. With the project, Terna has
launched an important process of engagement and training for a new generation of
professionals who, thanks to the Italian national transmission grid operator, will acquire the
distinctive skills in technological and digital spheres required to manage the future of the
electricity system.
The character of Nora represents this ideal of change; the expression of a new generation
committed to facing the challenges of energy and digital transition, and its reflections,
including social concerns, with new visions and plans for a more sustainable future.
On this new voyage of discovery, exploring the future of energy, listeners will be guided by
the voice of an exceptional narrator, Sofia Viscardi, writer and icon of Generation Z. She
will also be the protagonist of the podcast launch on TikTok and Instagram. In addition, for
the first time, the audience will be able to follow Nora’s story with the debut of a brand new
interactive, animated format on TikTok, Generation Z’s favourite platform. Terna’s profile
will let users to directly influence the narrative and choose how the story continues,
supporting Nora in her decisions and helping her to complete her mission.
