congratulated residents of Perm and the Perm Territory on the 300th
anniversary of Perm, a City of Labour Glory.
The message reads, in part:
“Your city played a crucial role in the Fatherland’s destiny, the exploration of the Kama River area and enhancing the industrial and defence potential of the country. You rightly take pride in many
generations of your people – famous poets and writers, composers and scientists, statesmen and public figures. Their achievements in labour and their combat feats are a worthy example of true selflessness, commitment to civic duty and to the Homeland. Natives of the Perm Territory are just as courageous today as they defend Russia.
Today, Perm is a big, distinctive and modern
city, a large centre for metallurgy and metal working industry with
well-developed transport and social infrastructure. Perm’s leading enterprises
produce equipment for the space and aviation industries, military equipment for the Armed Forces. And of course, your renowned school of ballet and the unique
collection of the Perm Art Gallery, which turned 100 last year, are famous
throughout the country.
I believe that you will continue to contribute to strengthening your native land and the country through your actions and initiatives while looking to the creative heritage of your ancestors.”
