Release of the new WHO global pulse survey results on essential health service continuity during the pandemic
WHO will release the results of the Fourth round of the global pulse survey on continuity of essential health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey results show the latest reports from national health systems starting recovery from pandemic impact with declining service disruptions seen by the beginning of 2023. However, a percentage of health services still faced disruptions and countries voice further support needed for building future resilience and preparedness.

Release of the 4th progress report of the Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All (SDG3 GAP)
A new progress report will be released on May 3, by the 13 signatory agencies of the Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All (SDG3 GAP).
The fourth SDG3 GAP progress report will present key findings of the past four years of joint work by the agencies, reflecting on what has worked well and what can be further strengthened and will feed into the next United Nations General Assembly SDG Summit and the High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage in September. EPI-WIN webinar: Chikungunya: Experiences from the current response to the outbreak in the Americas

Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted to humans through the bites of Aedes mosquitoes infected with the chikungunya virus. It has been identified in nearly 115 countries in all the continents except Antarctica. The most common symptom is an abrupt onset of fever, often accompanied by joint pain, sometimes very severe that usually lasts a few days but can persist for months or even years. The name “chikungunya” comes from the African Makonde language and means “bent over in pain.”
This Webinar will draw attention to chikungunya disease with the focus on the current situation in the Americas and the response from WHO and PAHO.

[Partnership in action: accelerating improvements in hand hygiene and infection prevention and control](https://worldhealthorganization.cmail19.com/t/d-l-zujjro-iitylyihjr-u/)
Held on World Hand Hygiene Day, this webinar from 14:00-15:30 CEST will feature a panel discussion on the importance of hand hygiene and infection prevention and control, and the action of civil society organizations to accelerate change at local, national and international levels.
Speakers will include Prof. Didier Pittet of the Geneva University Hospitals and the Senior advisor to the WHHD campaign, and representatives of several civil society organizations, including International Confederation of Midwives, International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, World Council of Nurses and World Medical Association and WaterAid.
