Building our Library community
Our community is made up of many different people who explore and enjoy our collection and spaces. Locals dropping in for homework club. Visitors discovering our exhibitions and events around the UK. Writers and illustrators whose works fill libraries nationwide. Researchers, learners and entrepreneurs using our archives to spark new ideas across the world. Be part of our community wherever you are and hear more about our exciting plans to open up our spaces to more people than ever before.

Making space for inspiration at St Pancras
Last month our plans to create a brand new public space for London were given the green light. While you’ll still find inspiration in our iconic Reading Rooms, within our extension you’ll enjoy a different side to the Library. New galleries, a bespoke learning centre and relaxed spaces will provide flexibility to explore everything we have to offer in ways that suit you.

Exhibitions on tour
This year some of our exhibitions are continuing their tour around the country. Head to our partner libraries to view Chinese and British, the York Art Gallery to see Marvellous and Mischievous: Literature’s Young Rebels, and Paddington: The Story of a Bear in a new location this summer.

Celebrating community across the country
Chinese communities have been calling the UK home for much longer than many realise. Our [Chinese and British](https://britishlibraryemails.bl.uk/5JXV-QBBT-6TJVT-J1G2G-1/c.aspx) exhibition reflects on this long history through photographs manuscripts and interviews with those who have lived through it.

At a Library near you
Did you know that the first Chinatown in Europe was in Liverpool? The Chinese community is one of the most geographically diverse in the country: you can find an exhibition of their extraordinary stories in our partner libraries including in Jersey, Edinburgh, Manchester and, of course, Liverpool.

And in St Pancras
You can visit our Chinese and British exhibition at St Pancras until 23 April 2023. Plus we have talks and performances online and in-person: Xiaolu Guo introduces her new memoir, Radical. Joanne Lau brings us a sneak preview of her new play WORTH, and you can join us for a panel discussion exploring the relationship between diaspora and empire.
