International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples
On the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, WHO’s stakeholders will contribute to the first draft of the Global Plan of Action for the Health of Indigenous Peoples [https://www.who.int/initiatives/global-plan-of-action-for-health-of-indigenous-peoples], developed following the adoption of Resolution 76.16 at the 76th World Health Assembly in May 2023. This draft outlines priorities and actions to advance Indigenous Peoples’ right to health, recognizing their holistic view of well-being and the significant health disparities they face globally. Inputs are sought from Member States, Indigenous Peoples, UN agencies, civil society, academia, and others, with a submission deadline of 12 September 2025. The draft and background documents are available in English, Spanish, and French, and comments can be submitted online to help shape a plan that respects Indigenous knowledge systems and promotes equitable, culturally grounded health solutions.
