Meet the speakers
Mr. Carlos Castro
Head of Intellectual Property | International Olympic Committee (IOC), Lausanne, Switzerland
Carlos Castro is the Head of Intellectual Property at the IOC, where he oversees all IP-related matters concerning the IOC and its commercial partners, as well as the Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games and National Olympic Committees. His responsibilities include the protection, enhancement and making available of the IOC’s IP Portfolio, also known as the “Olympic Properties” as defined by the Olympic Charter.
In 2013, he joined the IOC as Head of Copyright and Content Affairs, following his tenure at the WIPO Copyright Law Division. Carlos holds a Postgraduate Diploma in UK, EU and US Copyright Law from King’s College London.
Mr. Sofian Baghriche
Legal Counsel, IP Enforcement and Brand Protection | International Olympic Committee (IOC), Lausanne, Switzerland
Sofian is in charge of the IP Enforcement and Brand Protection at the International Olympic Committee, including the litigation of IP rights and anticounterfeiting activities (online and offline) worldwide.
Sofian joined the IOC in 2022 after having worked as a Brand Protection manager in the Luxury and Entertainment industries for nearly 10 years. Sofian holds a Master degree in IP/IT from the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France).
