Mediterranean Tourism Foundation Honors Turkish Airlines with the “Mediterranean Tourism Award”
Turkish Airlines, a leader in the global airline industry, has been given the “Mediterranean Tourism Award” at the prestigious award ceremony organized for the 8th time this year by the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation (MTF). This award recognizes the airline’s contributions to tourism in the Mediterranean and its efforts in supporting regional collaboration.
Established in 2013, the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation aims to enhance sustainable tourism potential across the Mediterranean region by promoting peace, cooperation, and prosperity. The MTF organizes forums that shape the Mediterranean tourism agenda, with participation from government representatives, international organizations, civil society leaders, and prominent figures in culture and thought.
This year’s forum, featuring general sessions, expert workshops, and discussion platforms, was opened by Malta’s Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi, and the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation Secretary General Andrew Agius Muscat.
Upon receiving the award from Mediterranean Tourism Foundation President Tony Zahra and Secretary General Andrew Agius Muscat, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said, “This is undoubtedly a prestigious recognition for our national flag carrier. We are committed to enhancing the sustainable tourism potential of our region, of which we have been an important and distinct element since history, working together with all stakeholders and investing significant effort. Seeing the fruits of our efforts is a great reward, and being recognized with this important award from the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation is particularly gratifying. We thank all the organization officials for valuing us with this award on behalf of the Turkish Airlines family.”
At the same event, Turkish Airlines’ Chief Marketing Officer, Ahmet Olmuştur, discussed industry developments and the significant contributions of the flag carrier to national and regional tourism during the “Tomorrow on Board” panel. Olmuştur stated, “One of our primary missions is to leverage the advantages of our geography, which, along with our skilled workforce, determination, and goal-oriented approach, distinguishes us from our competitors.”
The Mediterranean Tourism Awards have been held since 2014 and are considered one of the most significant awards in regional tourism. With this accolade, Turkish Airlines further solidifies its position as an internationally recognized leader.
