WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Center for International Policy (CIP) announced today that Matthew Duss will be the organization’s new Executive Vice-President effective September 5, 2023.
“We are thrilled to welcome Matt Duss as our new Executive Vice-President,” said Nancy Okail, CIP’s President and CEO. “Matt is a leading progressive foreign policy thinker, and his vision will be an enormous asset as we work to build CIP into a powerhouse of progressive thinkers and policy experts driving a much-needed shift in U.S. foreign policy that advances the public interest domestically and globally.”
Duss previously served as foreign policy advisor to Senator Bernie Sanders
(I-Vt) from 2017–2022. Over the past year, he was a visiting scholar in the American Statecraft Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. From 2014–2017, he served as the president of the Foundation for Middle East Peace.
“Nancy Okail has been doing amazing work to build CIP into a burgeoning hub for progressive foreign policy, not just in the United States, but internationally,” said Duss. “I’m very excited to join her and the CIP team to advance a more powerful and affirmative vision of U.S. global engagement based on shared sustainability, security, and solidarity.”
CIP has been a leading progressive voice on U.S. foreign affairs for nearly 50 years. The Center works to make a peaceful, just, and sustainable world the central pursuit of U.S. foreign policy by promoting greater cooperation, transparency, and governmental accountability. Critical to this mission is the inclusion of diverse perspectives and the integration of new voices into research and policymaking circles.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best Regards,
Nancy Okail
