Global Congress on Implementation of the International Code of Marketing of
Breast-milk Substitutes [https://www.who.int/about/governance/world-health-assembly]
From Tuesday to Thursday next week, 130 countries will commit to taking action on harmful industry marketing of formula milk at a global congress in Geneva.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) will host the first Global Congress on the implementation of the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes. During this event, 130 countries will discuss and share knowledge and strategies to end the unethical marketing of breast-milk substitutes.

Special award for the WHO and its Director General
On Tuesday, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is expected to be presented with a special award from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The World Health Organization is also expected to receive recognition.

On 22 June, there will be an announcement of memorandum of understanding between WHO and international advocacy organization Global Citizen in Paris, on the side-lines of the Power Our Planet Live In Paris [https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/info/power-our-planet/paris/] event, which is being held in conjunction with the Summit for A New Global Financing Pact [https://nouveaupactefinancier.org/en.php].
On 23 June, as part of the Summit, there will be a launch by WHO, the European Investment Bank and several other multilateral development banks, of a new platform to increase investment in primary health care services in low- and low- and middle-income countries.

WHO Research Agenda outlines 40 priority topics researchers must address to combat
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
On Thursday, WHO will publish its first global human health research agenda for the world’s scientists to generate evidence on the most important research topics needed to combat AMR. It outlines 40 vital research priorities that must be addressed by 2030 with a focus on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of resistant bacterial and fungal infections.
