The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) is conducting a study on the implementation of the European training requirements (ETRs) in the UEMS member countries. Information from the preliminary evaluation of this survey has been shared at the conference. One of the most challenging parts among all member countries is to implement the soft skills in medical education and how to evaluate the competences of our medical doctors in training.
Since 2021, the University of Luxembourg has launched the training of medical specialists Diplôme d’études spécialisées (DES). “Our curriculum is fully in line with the latest ETRs for specialist training at European level. More specifically, we followed the recommendations of the neurology section of UEMS and one of the most important objectives of the final evaluation is to ensure that our Médecins en voie de spécialisations would successfully complete the UEMS exam and meet all requirements of the training”, explains Prof. Gilbert Massard, Director of Medical Education at the University of Luxembourg.
