How grading will work this exam season
There will also be a return to pre-pandemic standards for vocational and technical qualifications (VTQs) that are taken in centres, alongside or instead of GCSEs and A levels, so all students will be on a level playing field. In the technical qualification of T Levels, awarding organisations will award more generously in the first years to reflect that these are new qualifications.

Awarding organisations have introduced earlier term time checkpoints to make sure they can identify and track students’ progress. If you provide L3 VTQs, check the information hub for key dates of when information is required.

– We will publish school and college level performance data for 2022/23 in October 2023 (KS4) and February 2024 (16-18). It will be clear that the performance tables reflect the return to pre-pandemic grading, with protection in place to recognise the disruption students have faced and highlight that users cannot make direct comparisons of KS4 or 16-18 performance data between 2022 and 2023.
