Parenting month: appreciate all parents throughout the world
Parenting Month is celebrated every June to highlight the critical role that parents and caregivers play in promoting children’s development, growth and wellbeing. It is also an opportunity to equip caregivers with the knowledge and tools they need. Parenting is a learned skill and parents and caregivers require time, resources, and support in order to raise children in a nurturing and positive environment.

Launch of the WHO Global initiative on health equity for persons with disabilities
The WHO Global initiative on health equity for persons with disabilities will be launched on 10 June 2025 from 11:30 to 12:45 EDT at a side event at the 18th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Over 1.3 billion people have a disability [https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/disability-and-health] worldwide, with many experiencing health inequities such as earlier deaths and higher disease risks arising from unfair and avoidable conditions within and beyond the health system. A global mechanism is urgently needed to better prioritize and collaborate on efforts to improve the health outcomes for persons with disabilities and towards achieving health for all. The new initiative on health equity for persons with disabilities aims to play this critical role.

WHO EPI-WIN Webinar: yellow fever in the Americas — what we know
This virtual meeting will take place from 15:00 – 16:00 CEST on yellow fever, a viral mosquito-borne disease, which continues to cause severe outbreaks, despite being preventable through vaccination. Currently, major epidemics in several Latin American countries (over 189 confirmed human cases reported in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and the Plurinational State of Bolivia since the beginning of 2025) are expanding in previously unaffected areas. This indicates a new epidemiological pattern and heightens the risk of urban yellow fever. The Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) is a global multi-partner initiative aimed at eliminating yellow fever epidemics. While sporadic cases are expected in endemic areas, outbreaks should decline as the EYE Strategy progresses.
