Council of Europe Congress Secretary General on official visit to Slovak Republic
The objective of the visit is to discuss implementation of Congress monitoring recommendations on the application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government and possible Congress co-operation activities to support territorial reform in the country, and raise awareness of the Congress contribution towards the Council of Europe’s New Democratic Pact for Europe.
He will have meetings with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár, Minister of Interior Matúš Šutaj Eštok, State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Michal Kaliňák, Speaker of the National Council Richard Raši, city representatives of Bratislava, as well as with national associations of local and regional authorities.
Secretary General Mori will also visit the Municipality of Častá, make a presentation to university students and meet media representatives.
The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities is an institution of the Council of Europe, responsible for strengthening local and regional democracy in its 46 member states. Composed of two chambers – the Chamber of Local Authorities and the Chamber of Regions – and three committees, it brings together 612 elected officials representing more than 130 000 local and regional authorities.
