NELL’AMBITO DI “PASSEGGIANDO S’IMPARA 2025” SABATO 24
MAGGIO ALLE ORE 14.45 AL PARCHEGGIO DEL SINCROTRONE DI
BASOVIZZA APPUNTAMENTO IN INGLESE “THE KARST AROUND
BASOVIZZA, AMONG WOODS, GRASSLANDS AND THEIR SMALL
INHABITANTS”
Nell’ambito di “Passeggiando s’impara 2025”, conferenze in natura con esperti dei
Musei Scientifici di Trieste, viene proposto per sabato 24 maggio l’appuntamento in
inglese “The Karst around Basovizza, among woods, grasslands and their small
inhabitants”.
L’incontro è aperto a tutti, ma rivolto in particolare ai “nuovi triestini” desiderosi di
conoscere il territorio attorno alla città dove vengono a trovarsi per lavoro, studio o
altre ragioni: di qui l’uso della lingua inglese.
Per l’occasione Andrea Colla, entomologo del Museo di Storia Naturale di Trieste,
accompagnerà i partecipanti lungo un percorso per conoscere ambienti, insetti e altri
aspetti naturalistici del Carso tra Basovizza e Padriciano.
L’itinerario non presenta particolari difficoltà, ma prevede di alcuni tratti su
sentieri accidentati e tra erbe alte; pertanto si raccomandano uso di pantaloni lunghi,
scarpe da escursionismo, una certa attitudine a percorsi impervi e pieno controllo di
bambini e animali domestici.
Utile una lampada frontale per la visita (facoltativa) a una piccola grotta a fine
percorso; la cavità è accessibile senza attrezzatura, ma inadatta per chi soffrisse di
vertigini e claustrofobia.

As part of “Passeggiando s’impara 2025”, conferences in nature with experts
from the Scientific Museums of Trieste, the appointment IN ENGLISH “The Karst
around Basovizza, among woods, grasslands and their small inhabitants” is
proposed for Saturday 24 May. The meeting is open to all, but aimed in particular at
the “new Triestini” who wish to learn about the area around the city where they come
to work, study or other reasons: hence the use of the English language.
For the occasion Andrea Colla, entomologist from the Natural History Museum of
Trieste, will accompany the participants along a route to learn about the
environments, insects and other naturalistic aspects of the Karst between Basovizza
and Padriciano.
The itinerary does not present particular difficulties, but includes some stretches
on rough paths and among tall grass; therefore, we recommend the use of long
trousers, hiking shoes, a certain aptitude for rough trails and full control of children
and pets. A headlamp is useful for the (optional) visit to a small cave at the end of the
route; the cavity is accessible without equipment, but unsuitable for those suffering
from vertigo and claustrophobia.
