L’Amministratore Delegato di Eni, Claudio Descalzi, incontra il Primo Ministro del Governo di Unità Nazionale libico Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh
Tripoli (Libia), 5 maggio 2025– Il Primo Ministro del Governo di Unità Nazionale libico, Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh, ha incontrato oggi a Tripoli l’Amministratore Delegato di Eni, Claudio Descalzi, per fare il punto sull’avanzamento delle attività nel Paese, con particolare riferimento ai tre progetti approvati nel 2023: Sabratha Compression, Bouri Gas Utilization Project e Structures A&E.
Il progetto Sabratha Compression sarà completato entro la fine dell’anno e contribuirà a sostenere la produzione del giacimento di Bahr Essalam. Il Bouri Gas Utilization Project sta procedendo e l’avvio operativo è previsto nel 2026. Infine, per il progetto Structures A&E è in fase di esecuzione la strategia contrattuale, mentre le attività di perforazione dei pozzi sono iniziate lo scorso aprile.
Durante l’incontro, è stato inoltre discusso lo stato delle attività esplorative di Eni in Libia e le opportunità derivanti dal recente lancio del nuovo round esplorativo.
Le parti hanno sottolineato il ruolo strategico di queste iniziative nel contribuire a sostenere e incrementare la produzione di gas nel Paese, riducendo al contempo l’impronta carbonica e favorendo lo sviluppo del capitale umano locale e il trasferimento tecnologico.
La società opera in Libia dal 1959 e dispone attualmente di un ampio portafoglio di asset nelle attività di esplorazione, produzione e sviluppo. Le operazioni sono gestite attraverso la joint venture Mellitah Oil and Gas BV (Eni 50%, NOC 50%). Eni è il principale produttore internazionale di gas nel Paese, con una produzione equity pari a 176.000 barili di olio equivalente al giorno nel 2024.

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi meets the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh
Tripoli (Libya), 5 May 2025 – The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh, and Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, met in Tripoli today to review the progress of activities in the Country, namely the three projects sanctioned in 2023: Sabratha Compression, Bouri Gas Utilization Project and Bahr Essalam Structures A&E.
The Sabratha Compression project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, contributing to support field production from Bahr Essalam. The Bouri Gas utilisation Project is progressing and start up is expected in 2026. Finally, the contracting strategy for Structures A&E is in execution, and the drilling of wells started in April.
The meeting was also the occasion to discuss Eni’s exploration activities in the Country, as well as the potential opportunities projected by the recently launched bid round.
The parties emphasized the role of these initiatives in contributing to sustain and increase gas production in the country while reducing carbon footprint as well as the development of local Human capital and technology sharing.
The company has been operating in Libya since 1959 and currently has a large portfolio of assets in exploration, production and development. Operations are run through the joint company Mellitah Oil and Gas BV (Eni 50%, NOC 50%). Eni is the leading international gas producer in Libya, the average equity production was 176,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2024.
