Youth participation in the digital age: Ministers’ Deputies examine challenges for democracy
22 January, Strasbourg – The Ministers’ Deputies will discuss youth democratic participation in the digital age during an informal meeting aimed at better understanding new trends. Access to political news increasingly takes place through social media and streaming platforms, where influencers as well as journalists conduct political interviews. While this fosters the emergence of political consciousness among the youngest, this new reality gives rise to many challenges, including hate speech, misinformation, cyberbullying, and foreign interference. As such, the Luxembourg Presidency of the Committee of Ministers has made democratic participation and the renewal of youth engagement in the democratic process at the local, national, and international level a key priority.
Opening conference of the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education 2025
Opening remarks will be delivered by Ladislau Baró Solà, Andorra’s Minister of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities, Claude Meisch, Luxembourg’s Minister of Education, Children and Youth (through a video message), Dr Athena Michailidou, Cyprus’ Minister of Education, Sport and Youth (through a video message) and Nadia Zourgui, Deputy Mayor of Strasbourg.

23 January, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 68 judgments and/or decision concerning Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine.
