ITA Airways: Revenue growth in 2025 and strong long-haul performance in a challenging
environment
Rome, 6 March 2026 – ITA Airways closed 2025 with overall positive commercial results, despite a
particularly challenging operating environment marked by geopolitical instability, fleet constraints,
and increasing competitive pressure.
Over the course of the year, the Company recorded passenger revenues of €2.8 billion, up 2.7%
compared to 2024, against a largely stable capacity offering. Passengers carried totaled 16.2
million, with a significant improvement in demand quality: the load factor reached 83.4%, an
increase of 2.1 percentage points year on year. RASK (the indicator measuring revenue per
available seat-kilometre) grew by 2.8%, confirming the effectiveness of the commercial optimization
strategies adopted.
Long-haul operations once again proved to be the main growth driver of the network. In 2025,
intercontinental revenues increased by 9.1%, with capacity up 6.1% and a load factor of 85.2%.
This positive performance was supported by solid demand, an improvement in RASK (+2.9%), and
network expansion, including the launch of a new intercontinental route in November.
In the domestic market, despite a reduction in capacity, ITA Airways achieved a marked
improvement in profitability, with RASK up 17.5% and a generalized increase in load factors. The
medium-haul segment was more affected by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East area, while
nevertheless maintaining a load factor increase compared to the previous year.
The performance of the Business Class was particularly positive, showing improvements across all
sectors in terms of load factor, average fare, and RASK, with especially strong results on long-haul
routes, where the load factor reached 85.9%.
At the end of 2025, the fleet consisted of 106 aircraft, of which 74 (70%) were new-generation
aircraft, with an average age of 6.5 years, making it the youngest fleet in Europe.
During the year, significant progress was also made in the integration process within the Lufthansa
Group, with interventions on commercial processes, sales tools, and distribution models, in
compliance with regulatory constraints, laying the foundations for development and the expected
synergies in 2026.
“In an extremely challenging operating environment, ITA Airways demonstrated resilience and
solidity in its commercial performance in 2025,” said Joerg Eberhart, Chief Executive Officer and
General Manager of ITA Airways. “Revenue growth, improved demand quality, and the strong
performance of long-haul operations confirm the validity of our strategic choices, despite geopolitical
tensions—particularly in the Middle East—fleet constraints, and growing competitive pressure. In
this context, ITA Airways’ results form part of the integration path into the Lufthansa Group,
contributing positively to the strengthening of the Group’s overall performance.”
The Company will also communicate its financial results once the financial statements have been
approved.
