(AGENPARL) – Thu 10 July 2025 Buon pomeriggio,
Dear Governor Pyshnyy, thank you very much for this opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Banca d’Italia and the I am also conveying Governor Panetta’s greetings and thanks; he regrets not being here with us today.
Signing this Memorandum of Understanding consolidates a long-standing relationship between our two central banks that has been in place for many years, and has been especially significant since 2022.
From 2022 to June this year, we had 64 technical cooperation activities with the NBU. A total of 331 NBU colleagues participated in the Banca d’Italia’s initiatives, attending 23 seminar/webinars and 16 bilateral video conferences. We also replied to 24 written requests and organised a study visit in Rome for two of your colleagues in 2023.
Our cooperation with the NBU has covered all the topics in the Banca d’Italia’s technical cooperation programme, including both institutional functions and support activities. Specifically, Central Bank Governance has been covered 36 times, Central Banking Operations 21 times, Supervision and Financial Stability 19 times.
The MoU we are about to sign is a framework for further consolidating our relationship and I look forward to this prospect.
Dear Governor, these are extremely testing times for your country. The Bank of Italy stands ready to provide to the NBU all the technical assistance that we can. Let me close by expressing my admiration for the courage and strength of Ukraine and its people, and say—Дякую.
