KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has
been recognized on CDP’s 2024 Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA) A-list. This
is the sixth year since 2018 that KONE has earned a Supplier Engagement
Leaderboard position, ranking among the top-performing companies worldwide. This
recognition follows CDP’s release of its 2024 global scores, where KONE was
honored with a place on the prestigious Climate ‘A List’, marking the 12[th]
consecutive year for KONE to receive a leadership score of A or A-.
CDP’s SEA evaluates how effectively companies engage their suppliers in
addressing climate change. It focuses on four key areas: governance, targets,
emissions from the supply chain (scope 3), and value chain engagement. The A
-rated companies are celebrated on the SEA Leaderboard.

“We have identified the suppliers accounting for the majority of KONE’s scope 3
emissions from purchased goods. By partnering with these suppliers, we aim to
reduce the carbon footprint of the materials and components we source. For
example, we maintain continuous dialogue with these suppliers, develop emissions
reporting together, set emission reduction targets, and organize supplier
training.”
With its strategy, Rise, and purpose to shape the future of cities, KONE’s
ambition is to lead the industry – also in sustainability. In 2020, KONE was the
first company in the elevator and escalator industry to set ambitious, science
-based climate targets. By 2030, KONE is committed to cutting emissions from its
own operations by 50% and reducing emissions of its products’ materials and
lifetime energy consumption by 40% per product ordered, compared to a 2018
baseline.
In 2024, KONE’s scope of 3 emissions per product ordered decreased by 12.8%
compared to the 2018 baseline. Since over 99% of KONE’s emissions come from the
product and value chain (scope 3), improving the energy and material efficiency
of its products presents a significant opportunity to drive meaningful climate
impact.
