Resilience of EU electricity grids*
In brief*
Rule of law in Spain. *From around 16:00, MEPs and Commissioner Michael McGrath will discuss how to safeguard the rule of law in Spain, focusing on the independence and autonomy of the chief prosecutor’s office.
Genocide in Gaza*. In a topical debate with Kaja Kallas, starting at around 13:00, MEPs will discuss Israel’s role in the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and whether the time has come for the EU to impose sanctions on Israel.
Human rights in Georgia, Iran and Mali*. In a series of debates with Commissioner Zaharieva in the evening, MEPs will focus on media freedom in Georgia, and the case of hunger-striking journalist Mzia Amaglobeli. They will also look into the case of Ahmadreza Jalali, a scientist currently sentenced to death in Iran. They will then move onto Mali, where political parties are being dissolved in the midst of a crackdown on the opposition. Three separate resolutions will be put to a vote in plenary on Thursday.

At noon, MEPs will also vote, among other things, on:
-macro-financial assistance to Egypt;
-the Commission’s 2024 rule of law report;
-the implementation report on the Recovery and Resilience Facility;
-2023 and 2024 reports on Montenegro and Moldova’s progress towards EU accession.
