CICLISMO, VALORI E TERRITORI: PRESENTATA A BRUXELLES AL COMITATO EUROPEO DELLE REGIONI LA COPPA ITALIA DELLE REGIONI 2025

Bruxelles, 2 aprile 2025 – Si è svolta a Bruxelles, presso l’Atrium del Comitato europeo delle Regioni, l’iniziativa dal titolo Ciclismo, Valori e Territori, organizzata dalla Lega del Ciclismo Professionistico insieme alla Conferenza delle Regioni e delle Province Autonome, con il patrocinio del Comitato delle Regioni. Lʼevento ha inteso porre al centro del dibattito, durante i giorni della sessione plenaria del Comitato, temi fondamentali quali la valorizzazione dei territori grazie al ciclismo, il sostegno concreto alle pari opportunità attraverso lo sport, la salute e il benessere delle comunità che derivano dall’ospitare eventi sportivi e adottare stili di vita sani.
“L’equiparazione del montepremi fra uomini e donne vincitori della Coppa Italia delle Regioni è un’ottima iniziativa, a cui sono orgogliosa di poter dare spazio al Comitato europeo delle Regioni.”, ha esordito la Presidente del Comitato delle Regioni, Kata Tüttő. “Lo sport parla al cuore delle persone. Per questo, come già successo molte volte nella storia, può fare da apripista per un cambiamento reale nella società. Mi auguro che la Coppa Italia delle Regioni possa ispirare non solo altre gare e altri sport in tutta Europa, ma anche la politica ad agire in modo deciso per una società in cui donne e uomini siano finalmente trattati allo stesso modo”.
Nellʼambito dellʼevento è stata, infatti, presentata la Coppa Italia delle Regioni 2025, un progetto Lega del Ciclismo Professionistico e Conferenza delle Regioni e delle Province autonome, giunto alla seconda edizione, che rappresenta una sfida avvincente tra i migliori team ciclistici italiani e internazionali, inserito nel prestigioso circuito ProSeries e nel calendario UCI Europe Tour. Attraverso 31 gare – 21 maschili e 10 femminili- che si terranno in 11 Regioni italiane, la competizione esalta il talento e la passione del ciclismo uniti alla vocazione dei territori.
“Sono molto felice di essere a Bruxelles oggi, nel cuore delle istituzioni europee e dei suoi territori, per ribadire l’importanza di sostenere il modello sportivo europeo basato sui valori, così come il parere di mia iniziativa, approvato all’unanimità, ha voluto sancire.”, ha affermato il Presidente della Lega del Ciclismo Professionistico e Rapporteur al CdR del parere d’iniziativa sullo sport, Roberto Pella. “Enti locali e regionali svolgono un ruolo chiave in questo senso, e il ciclismo in particolare è capace di favorire la coesione sociale e l’uguaglianza, grazie alla sua accessibilità e al legame con la storia e i territori. Oggi, e sempre di più, questo approccio allo sport in tutte le politiche deve restare una priorità per l’UE, al fine di potenziare il settore e di contribuire alla crescita democratica e allo sviluppo di competenze tra i giovani.”
“Il ciclismo è una disciplina che unisce passione e determinazione, spirito di squadra e resilienza, capace di trasformare ogni strada percorsa in un viaggio alla scoperta delle bellezze del Paese. Con la seconda edizione della Coppa Italia delle Regioni – ha spiegato il Presidente della Conferenza delle Regioni e delle Province autonome, Massimiliano Fedriga – puntiamo a rafforzare il profondo legame tra lo sport e i territori locali. Attraversando l’Italia, ogni tappa mette in mostra la diversità e la ricchezza del nostro patrimonio, non solo in paesaggistici. La Coppa Italia delle Regioni, con il suo format innovativo e il forte legame con il territorio, può diventare un modello ispirativo e replicabile per altri Paesi europei, promuovendo una visione dello sport come strumento di crescita, inclusione e valorizzazione delle identità locali.”

CYCLING, VALUES AND TERRITORIES: THE “2025 ITALY REGIONS CUP” PRESENTED IN BRUSSELS TO THE EU COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS
Brussels, 2 April 2025 – The initiative entitled Cycling, Values ​​and Territories, organized by the League of Professional Cycling together with the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, under the patronage of the Committee of the Regions, took place in Brussels, at the Atrium of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union. The event aimed to place at the center of the debate, during the days of the Committee’s plenary session, fundamental themes such as the valorization of territories thanks to cycling, concrete support for equal opportunities through sport, the health and well-being of communities resulting from hosting sporting events and adopting healthy lifestyles.
“The equalization of the prize money between men and women winners of the Italian Regions Cup is an excellent initiative, which I am proud to be able to give space to at the European Committee of the Regions”, began the President of the Committee of the Regions, Kata Tüttő. “Sport speaks to the hearts of people. For this reason, as has already happened many times in history, it can lead the way for real change in society. I hope that the Italian Regions’ Cup can inspire not only other competitions and other sports throughout Europe, but also politicians to act decisively for a society in which women and men are finally treated equally”.
In fact, as part of the event, the 2025 Italian Regions Cup was presented, a Professional Cycling League and Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces project, now in its second edition, which represents a compelling challenge between the best Italian and international cycling teams, included in the prestigious ProSeries circuit and in the UCI Europe Tour calendar. Through 31 races – 21 men’s and 10 women’s – which will be held in 11 Italian regions, the competition highlights talent and the passion for cycling combined with the vocation of the territories.
“I am very happy to be in Brussels today, in the heart of the European institutions and its territories, to reiterate the importance of supporting the European sporting model based on values, as the opinion of my own initiative, approved unanimously, wanted to establish.”, stated the President of the Professional Cycling League and Rapporteur to the CoR of the own-initiative opinion on sport, Roberto Pella. “Local and regional authorities play a key role in this sense, and cycling in particular is capable of promoting social cohesion and equality, thanks to its accessibility and link with history and territories. Today, and increasingly, this approach to sport in all policies must remain a priority for the EU, in order to strengthen the sector and contribute to democratic growth and the development of skills among young people.”
“Cycling is a discipline that combines passion and determination, a team-oriented mindset, and resilience, capable of turning every road traveled into a journey of discovery through the country’s beauty. With the second edition of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni,” explained the President of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, Massimiliano Fedriga, “we aim to strengthen the deep bond between sports and local territories. As it crosses Italy, each stage showcases the diversity and richness of our heritage, not only in terms of landscapes. The Coppa Italia delle Regioni, with its innovative format and strong connection to local areas, can become an inspiring and replicable model for other European countries, promoting a vision of sports as a tool for growth, inclusion, and the enhancement of local identities.”
