Roberta Marcenaro Lyon, co-founder and CEO of IMARK, announces Italian Design Week 2023, a series of immersive events in Washington DC.
Join us on a journey of Italian culture and design from Sep 30th to Oct 4rd, and get transported to the heart and soul of Italy in celebration of Italian craftsmanship. This upcoming edition aims to captivate visitors and immerse them in rich unforgettable experiences that celebrate design, beauty, and heritage.
Italian Design Week is a callout to all organizations and individuals connected to the design and creative industries, creating multiple opportunities to engage with the latest design trends, while gaining insight on how Italian brands are pushing boundaries and setting new standards in creativity and sustainability. Access to these exclusive events will provide unparalleled networking opportunities with the Italian community, leaders, CEOs and prestige society members.
The weeklong series of events features activation moments at CityCenterDC on Saturday and Sunday with 12 Lamborghini cars parked around the space, with special drinks served by Italian luxury stores such as Armani, Moncler, Ferragamo, Brioni and more; restaurants will serve special menu in addition to incredible Italian happy hours at bars.
On Monday, the Italian Embassy will host panel talks exploring topics of competition, innovation, investment, and sustainability; The first panel, the Investment & Competition Panel, will bring together a distinguished group of leading brands and business leaders like Eni, Leonardo, EssilorLuxotica. They will engage in an insightful discussion on the unique aspects that differentiate investments in Italy, Europe, and China from those in the United States. The panelists will delve into the intricacies of federal and state laws and policies, shedding light on the opportunities and challenges in these regions. We are honored to have Giuseppe Scognamigio, the founder and chairman of Eastwest European Institute, as the esteemed moderator for this panel.
The second panel, the Sustainability Panel, will focus on the fashion and lifestyle sectors’ positive impact on societies and the environment. Esteemed speakers from brands such as Palazzo Fiuggi, Forte Village, Villa Petriolo, Bacci, and Kartell will share inspiring narratives highlighting their contributions toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Through these stories, they will showcase their commitment to fostering a better future for all. We are delighted to have Lucie Brigham, Chief of Office at the United Nations Office for Partnerships, as the moderator for this thought-provoking panel.
The last panel, the Innovation Panel, will be an Italian Design Challenge hosted by Mike Pell from Microsoft Garage. This panel will feature ten iconic Italian brands at the Italian Embassy such as Scavolini, Beretta, Lamborghini, Moleskine and Piaggio Group. Together, they will discuss the future of Italian design and its potential to catalyze meaningful change. Mike Pell, a respected figure in the industry, will serve as the moderator, guiding the conversation toward groundbreaking insights and ideas.
Gala dinner at the Willard hotel with Michelin three-starred chef Heinz Beck and awarded companies: Esserluxotica, Moleskine, Beretta & Forte Village for their amazing work in design.
By showcasing the best “Made in Italy” brands present in the US, this series will cultivate cultural exchange between the two countries emphasizing their strong ties and relationship.
Highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship and ingenuity of iconic Italian brands and designers who embrace contemporary cultural challenges through innovative and mindful design. These events strive to promote appreciation of Italy’s cultural legacy and its ongoing impact on the global design industry.
As part of Italian Design week’s commitment to giving back, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to funding Longer Tables, a nonprofit organization dedicated to setting tables and connecting members from all communities and backgrounds, advocating for diversity, unity and inclusion. By supporting this initiative, Italian design week aims to strengthen the bond of communities and promote diversity in DC.
