Intellectual property guides for the
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations
The IPO has published guidance to help businesses navigate the IP regimes in each of the six GCC member states: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
These pages provide information on the main IP rights – trade marks, patents, designs and copyright – and where to go for further guidance.
Did you know?
– The GCC is equivalent to the UK’s seventh largest export market – total trade was worth £33.1 billion in 2021.
– The UK has a longstanding relationship with the GCC region, including trade and investment, working closely together on a range of mutually beneficial objectives including IP.
– The GCC nations focus on economic growth and development in many areas where the UK has world-leading expertise: technology, life sciences, creative industries, financial services and education.
– Intellectual property will play a vital role in securing the UK ambitions in the GCC as the region’s economy continues to diversify.
