> Greetings from ASEF. I trust all of you are keeping well, and I hope you had an enjoyable summer.
> ASEF is organising a 2-day seminar for journalists below 35 years old to bring together 10 Asians and 10 Europeans. Most of the travel, accommodation and per diem costs will be borne by ASEF (you will recall that the ASEF Journalists Seminar series is funded by the EU). The training seminar will cover Solutions/Constructive Journalism, Mobile Journalism, News Production in the Digital Age, and Media Trends and Outlook 2023. Trainers will come from the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Straits Times and a European journalism school/think tank.
> I would be grateful if you could spread the word around European journalists and to encourage them to apply as participants of the ASEFJS13. They can apply by following the link at #11 below. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you, or the interested journalists from Europe, have any queries.

> 1) Meet our ASEF Family and Friends: Adam Stepinski
> Adam STEPINSKI has been teaching English and History for over 25 years. Starting as a Primary School teacher, he moved to the Copernicus Upper-Secondary School in Tarnobrzeg, in 2000. In 2018, Adam was awarded the title of the Best English Teacher in Poland. He has participated in ASEF programs since 2013.

> 3) ASEF PHN to speak at the World AMR Congress
> ASEF Public Health Network is set to speak at the World AMR Congress in Washington, DC (US) on 7-8 September 2022. This is the world’s largest AMR conference for all stakeholders combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
> Ms Riko KIMOTO, Manager for International Public Health at ASEF, is going to host both a panel session and a roundtable to reiterate the importance of international collaboration and global action to address AMR as well as to promote a fruitful dialogue on adopting a health system approach as a practical way to combat AMR.
> 4) ASEF Roundtable at UNESCO Mondiacult 2022
> ASEF Culture in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts and Transit Projetes (Spain) will organise an online roundtable on 27 September 2022 as official side event of the UNESCO-MONDIACULT 2022 World Conference. Six experts from the arts and culture sectors of Asia and Europe will reflect on international cultural cooperation in post-pandemic recovery. Registration is now open!
> 5) ASEF invited to speak at the AEI-ASEM Summer School
> On 23 August 2022, ASEF was invited to host a session as a ‘Virtual Visit to ASEF’ as part of the programme. ASEF’s Education Department delivered a session highlighting ASEF’s work in Education and approach to Youth Leadership capacity Building. They led the cohort of students in a brainstorming activity to give them a taste of ASEF’s work and to support their Summer School learning experience.
> 6) ASEF supports the Vision of Creating a Common Higher Education Space in Southeast Asia
> The 15th SHARE Policy Dialogue on “Envisioning the Future of a Common Higher Education Space in Southeast Asia”, was held in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, from 27 to 28 July 2022. ASEF’s Education Department is working with regional partners to create a joint vision and mission for such a space.

> 7) Recalibrating the Compass: Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Post-pandemic International Cooperation
> As part of the series “Recalibrating the Compass: What Future for Asia-Europe Cultural Relations?”, ASEF Culture organised its 4th roundtable focusing on cultural heritage and Tourism in Post-pandemic International Cooperation on 31 August 2022. The roundtable discussion addressed the current challenges in the field of cultural heritage, including its relationship with tourism and other social and economic aspects. > 8) ASEF PHN joins UHC2030
> ASEF Public Health Network (ASEF PHN) is excited to announce it has successfully joined UHC2030, the global movement to build stronger health systems for Universal Health Coverage, in the multilateral organizations and global health initiatives category. This is a testament to ASEF PHN’s ongoing work on catalyzing progress towards the achievement of sustainable UHC via an AMR integrated approach.

> 10) Open Call: ASEMHRS21Training
> Are you a representative of a national or regional human rights institution, government agency, or civil society organisation from an ASEM country; and are engaged in human rights and climate change or environmental law? Then this is your chance! We are seeking applications for our 21st Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights – Training, which will focus on human rights-based approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation. Deadline: 14 September 2022.
> 11) Open Call: ASEFJS13
> Journalists from ASEM member countries can apply for two days training held in person in Singapore. 20 journalists will be selected to participate in the training and receive mentorship from expert on the topic “Media Best Practices in the Digital Age”. The submission deadline is Sunday, 25 September 2022.

> 12) Recalibrating the Compass: Sustainable and Ethical Practices in the Cultural Sector – Report
> The report of the third roundtable in the series “Recalibrating the Compass: What Future for Asia-Europe Cultural Relations?” is now available on culture360.ASEF.org. Focusing on the topic of ethical and social sustainability in cultural management and cultural relations, this roundtable session discussed on issues such as equality in discourses and in practice, diversity, and fostering connectedness.
> 13) Crafts in Asia: Pathways to Sustainability
> ASEFculture360 is delighted to present a new guide on sustainable textile practices and crafts in Asia addressing climate change, pollution and waste, titled Crafts in Asia: Pathways to Sustainability. This guide, highlighting the key role played by crafts in providing practical solutions to face the climate crisis, features 12 case studies and 3 in-depth interviews from Indigenous and local communities in Asia.
