The Library of Congress is accepting applications for a Museum Technician GS-07, until July 8, 2022.
The Visitor Engagement Office is offering opportunities for qualified individuals to serve on a part-time,180-day temporary appointment at the GS-07 level as a Museum Technician, Visitor Engagement Office (VEO), Center for Learning, Literacy & Engagement (CLLE), within the Librarian’s Office (LIBN) at the Library of Congress (LC).
The incumbent Museum Technician will be focused on the customer service and engagement experience of every Library of Congress visitor. This is a public-facing position that provides building entry services, general information, wayfinding, and guided experiences for visitors of the Library to include the general public, Congressional Staff, Congressional Constituents, visiting delegations, school groups, tour companies, visitor with disabilities, and other key audiences.
The incumbent will communicate with Library visitors and patrons, and adapt information as needed for diverse visitors. They will assist with controlling building access by collecting passes for entry and/or confirming reservations for events. They will staff Information Kiosks and/or wayfinding posts to respond to inquiries and provide information. Under direct supervision from full-time Library staff, they will act as floor leads in overseeing the services provided by volunteers and non-pay staff to ensure consistent, excellent service to visitors.
