Multiannual financial framework/discussion with Commissioner Serafin. *MEPs at the Budgets Committee will exchange views with Piotr Serafin on the EU’s next long-term budget, the Interinstitutional Agreement, and the Own Resources Decision ( Wednesday/).
Gender Equality Week*. Harnessing women’s talent through education, training and employment, to drive economic growth and progress, is the main topic of several events being organised by parliamentary committees this week ( Monday to Thursday/). European Parliament President Roberta Metsola will open the hearing on “Women’s leadership in politics” in the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee on Wednesday/.
Proxy vote for MEPs before and after the birth of a child*. The Committee on Constitutional Affairs is set to adopt a proposal making targeted amendments to the European Electoral Act, to allow MEPs to delegate their voting rights in plenary before and after the birth of a child ( Tuesday/).
Rule of law in Hungary*. The Civil Liberties Committee will take stock of the deteriorating situation of democracy in Hungary, seven years after Parliament called on EU member states to determine, in accordance with the EU Treaties, whether the country was at risk of breaching the EU´s founding values ( Wednesday)./
Newcomers’ seminar*. Parliament’s press service is organising an information session for EU correspondents on how to follow parliamentary activity, identify key information and sources and understand the legislative process (Tuesday)/.
President’s diary*. On Monday/ and Tuesday/, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola will be in Rome, Italy, where she will meet with the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and address the boards of agriculture sector organisations Coldiretti and Confagricoltura. She will also speak at an event organised by Formiche and address the opening of the Sigma Summit. On Friday/, she will travel to the capital of the Republic of Moldova, Chișinău.
