(AGENPARL) - Roma, 4 Aprile 2025 - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the West aims for a Bosnia and Herzegovina in which Republika Srpska would not be able to retain the competencies granted to it by the Dayton Peace Accords.
“The strategy of the West is clear: they want a unitary Bosnia and Herzegovina in which Republika Srpska gradually loses its prerogatives and autonomy,” Vučić said in a statement to the media.
He emphasized that international pressure on Republika Srpska has increased, with ongoing attempts to reduce its political and administrative role within the institutional framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It is no secret that some Western powers are trying to revise Dayton de facto, without any negotiation or agreement with the signatory parties. This not only undermines regional stability but also calls into question Republika Srpska’s right to self-determination within the framework provided by the Accords,” Vučić added.
The Serbian president reiterated his commitment to defending the position of Republika Srpska and respecting the Dayton Accords as the only guarantee of peace and stability in the Balkans.
