Sarah Sackman KC MP was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice on 2 December 2024. She was Solicitor General from the 9 July 2024 to 2 December 2024.
She was elected as the MP for Finchley and Golders Green in July 2024. The minister’s portfolio will be confirmed in due course.

Please remember that over the upcoming holiday season, our courts and tribunals will close temporarily on various dates between 25 December 2024 and 1 January 2025. 
Some magistrates’ courts will be open on 26 December 2024 and 1 January 2025, for remand hearings only.

Family (new)
The probate team will be holding several drop in sessions throughout December. The sessions provide an opportunity to meet the team, find out more about the service and share your feedback. Sessions are planned as follows:
* Highbury Magistrates’ Court, London, 9 December 2024, 12pm to 2pm
* Reigate & Banstead Probation Office, Surrey, 10 December 2024, 10am to 12pm
* Bristol Magistrates’ Court and Tribunal Hearing Centre, 18 December 2024, 12pm to 2pm
* Clarence House, Newport, 19 December 2024, 10am to 12pm
Applications at the Court of Protection [ https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-a-property-and-financial-affairs-deputyship-order?utm_medium=email&utm_source= ]
Legal professionals applying for a property and affairs deputyship must now submit their applications on GOV.UK following an update to Court of Protection Practice Direction 9H.
The online service was launched in 2021 and has been improved as a result of feedback from the judiciary and legal professionals. Improvements include better guidance and the ability to save and return to an application.
The service now processes over 800 applications each month and future updates include the ability to apply for a replacement deputy via GOV.UK.
