WHA Highlights
Day 3 of the 77th World Health Assembly (29 May)
The Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly [https://www.who.int/about/accountability/governance/world-health-assembly/seventy-seventh] (WHA) continues at the Palais des Nations in Geneva today and will meet in Plenary, Committee A and Committee B. Working hours today are from 09.00 to 12.00; 14.30 to 17.30; and 18.00 to 21.30 CEST. The General Committee will meet at 17.30 CEST, while the Drafting group on items 13.3 & 13.4 will hold an entire day of meetings, including the evening session.

Highlights of the day:
Under the agenda item Universal health coverage, Committee A will examine the Consolidated report by the Director-General ( A77/4 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_4-en.pdf]) and will consider two draft resolutions, on the development of a global strategy and action plan for integrated emergency, critical and operative care, 2026–2035 ( EB154(6) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB154/B154(6)-en.pdf]) and on social participation for universal health coverage, health and well-being ( A77/A/CONF./ [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_ACONF3-en.pdf] 3 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_ACONF3-en.pdf]).Committee A will also consider draft texts on mental health and psychosocial support before, during and after emergencies ( A77/A/CONF./11 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_ACONF11-en.pdf]); availability, ethical access and oversight of transplantation of human cells, tissues and organs ( EB154(7) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB154/B154(7)-en.pdf]); on accelerating progress towards reducing maternal, newborn and child mortality ( A77/A/CONF./5 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_ACONF5-en.pdf]); and will consider the adoption of draft global action plan and monitoring framework on infection prevention and control ( EB154(8) [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB154/B154(8)-en.pdf])On antimicrobial resistance (AMR), Committee A will hear the presentation of the WHO strategic and operational priorities to address drug-resistant bacterial infections in the human health sector, 2025–2035 ( A77/5 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_5-en.pdf]) and will consider a draft resolution on accelerating national and global responses to AMR ( A77/A/CONF./1 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_ACONF1-en.pdf]). Additionally, Committee A will examine the report by the Secretariat of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control ( A77/ [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_INF3-en.pdf] INF./3 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_INF3-en.pdf]), and discuss other items contained in the Consolidated report by the Director-General ( A77/4 [https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA77/A77_4-en.pdf]), including Immunization Agenda 2030, End TB Strategy, Road map for neglected tropical diseases 2021–2030.
The Plenary will continue its general discussion on Item 3, the report by the WHO Director-General (A77/3), delivered on the opening day of the Health Assembly (27 May).
