In fall 2022, Nayna Gupta received the Miles L. Rubin Public Interest Award from Stanford Law School’s John and Terry Levin Center for Public Service and Public Interest Law. The annual award recognizes an alumnus/a whose work has advanced justice and social change in the lives of vulnerable populations on a community, national, or international level. Since 2020, Gupta has served as the associate director of policy at the National Immigrant Justice Center, which advocates for immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers through direct representation, impact litigation and policy advocacy. Prior to her current role, Gupta was a clerk in the U.S. District Court in the Middle District of Alabama and a staff attorney and racial justice fellow for the ACLU of Northern California. She also worked as an immigration defense attorney at the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office.
