How to register for EPA Virtual Public Hearing on Proposed Rule for Chemical Plants
Registration for Public Hearing on Proposed Rule for Chemical Plants is Open through Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
Next Tuesday (May 16, 2023), EPA will hold a virtual public hearing to provide the public the opportunity to present comments and information on the Agency’s proposed rule to reduce toxic and other harmful chemicals from plants that make synthetic organic chemicals and certain polymers and resins.
This proposal would cut more than 6,000 tons a year of emissions of toxic air pollution from these plants, including the highly toxic chemicals ethylene oxide and chloroprene. It would dramatically reduce the number of people with elevated air toxics-related cancer risks in communities that surround the plants that emit these two chemicals, especially communities that have been historically overburdened by air toxics pollution.
The hearing will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time and end at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
