President of Lithuania visits International Criminal Court

On 17 April 2023, H.E. Mr Gitanas Naus?da, President of Lithuania, visited the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he was received by ICC President Judge Piotr Hofma?ski and ICC Registrar Mr Osvaldo Zavala Giler.
Thanking President Naus?da for his visit, President Hofma?ski stated: “Lithuania’s strong and longstanding commitment to the ICC is very highly appreciated and of particular importance as the Court faces an exceptionally high workload, operating in 17 situations on four continents. It is more important than ever that the States Parties provide their full cooperation to the ICC and remain firm in their support of its independent and impartial mandate, as a court of law.”
Lithuanian President H.E. Mr Gitanas Naus?da stated: “As this year marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, I congratulate the Court for its remarkable contribution to the global efforts to end impunity and to hold accountable those responsible for grave crimes anytime, anywhere. With our joint support, the capacity of the Court is visibly increasing”.
The visit of President Naus?dato the ICC highlights Lithuania’s commitment to the Court and the joint efforts deployed in the fight against the impunity of the perpetrators of the most serious crimes that affect the international community as a whole. Lithuania signed the Rome Statute on 10 December 1998 and deposited its instrument of ratification on 12 May 2003.

Le Président de la Lituanie en visite à la Cour pénale internationale

Le 17 avril 2023, S.E. M. Gitanas Naus?da, Président de la Lituanie, a visité la Cour pénale internationale (CPI), où il a été reçu par le Président de la CPI, le juge Piotr Hofma?ski, et le Greffier de la CPI, M. Osvaldo Zavala Giler.
Remerciant le Président Naus?da pour sa visite, le Président Hofma?ski a déclaré : « L’engagement ferme et de longue date de la Lituanie envers la CPI est très apprécié et d’une importance particulière car la Cour fait face à une charge de travail exceptionnellement élevée, opérant dans 17 situations sur quatre continents. Il est plus important que jamais que les États parties apportent leur pleine coopération à la CPI et restent fermes dans leur soutien à son mandat indépendant et impartial, en tant que cour de justice. »
Le Président de la Lituanie, S.E. M. Gitanas Naus?da, a déclaré : « Alors que cette année marque le 25ème anniversaire de l’adoption du Statut de Rome de la Cour pénale internationale, je félicite la Cour pour sa contribution remarquable aux efforts mondiaux visant à mettre fin à l’impunité et à tenir pour responsables les personnes suspectées de crimes graves à tout moment et partout. Avec notre soutien conjoint, la capacité de la Cour augmente visiblement »
La visite du Président Naus?da à la CPI témoigne de l’engagement de la Lituanie en faveur de la Cour et des efforts communs déployés pour lutter contre l’impunité des responsables des crimes les plus graves qui touchent l’ensemble de la communauté internationale. La Lituanie a signé le Statut de Rome le 10 décembre 1998 et a déposé son instrument de ratification le 12 mai 2003.
