FAO to host global eventin Rome, 31 March 2023, from 12.30 to 14.00 (CEST)
The United Nations-designated [International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA) 2022](https://www.fao.org/artisanal-fisheries-aquaculture-2022/home/en/) has celebrated the contribution of millions of small-scale fishers, fish farmers and fish workers who every day strive to achieve better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all.
The year has laid the groundwork for a new era that will enable the small-scale actors in the sector to enhance what they do and benefit from a [Blue Transformation](https://www.fao.org/documents/card/en/c/cc0458en/).
To mark the official closure of Year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will host at its Rome headquarters a global ceremony on 31 March 2023 from 12.30 to 14.00 CEST.
The event will feature video footage and images from IYAFA celebrations around the world and present key recommendations from the IYAFA 2022 report in the areas of environmental, economic and social sustainability, governance, gender equality and equity, food security and nutrition, resilience and the participation of youth for Blue Transformation. It will also set out commitments to bring the recommendations to fruition.
